Investigating Voyant

We took our blog post and pasted it into Voyant, which is a tool to analyze your text.  I chose the word “philosophy” and here’s a screenshot of the dashboard.

You can click on any word in the document and see where it shows up (middle panel), see its relative frequency (right panel), and see a summary of the most-used words (left panel).  I haven’t quite figured out all the ways one might use this to analyze text, but it’s certainly interesting.  The big-data aspect of seeing text anew isn’t something that I intuitively understand. But, I didn’t understand the World Wide Web when it was new, either!
